Tour Summary

Don't miss this chance to enjoy this amazing morning of exploring the southern shoreline of beautiful Banderas Bay as you trek along a mile along a forest trail to the charming coastal oasis of Colomitos. Colomitos is an amazing little hidden cove that is renowned for snorkeling. Eco enthusiasts will love this outdoor adventure that combines a modest hike with a morning of snorkeling in the virtually transparent waters of a sheltered inlet.

This tour is appropriate for all kids over the age of five, so be sure to bring the entire family on this exciting and educational outing. Children can easily handle the one mile hike over the flats along the Banderas Bay coast. The kids will be fascinated by the local plant and animal life along this forest trail. A remarkable array of flora and fauna flourish in the coastal woodlands between the Sierra Madre foothills and along Banderas Bay. Fascinating indigenous plants like the delicate Wild Orchid, the swaying Palm, and the flowering Plumeria decorate the path to Colomitos. You could spot some of the four-legged mammalian residents of this area such as Raccoons, Skunks, Foxes and Armadillos. Be on the lookout for a lizard, like an Iguana, sunbathing on a stone or a tree branch. Don't be too alarmed when a Mountain Crab crosses the trail. This area is also populated with a spectrum of colorful insect species such as butterflies and dragonflies. Termites build massive nests in the area. Listen for the melody of the Yellow Winged Cacique and other tropical birds as they serenade you on your journey.

But after hiking though this lovely garden-like trail, you'll reach a truly gorgeous scene, where the forest opens up to reveal a pristine white stretch of sand on the shore of a lovely secluded cove - you've reached Colomitos. Now, it's time for a full morning of exploring the waters of this amazing little body of water while snorkeling. You will be amazed when you see the brilliantly colored residents of the coral garden. You may spot some exotic fish like the Puffer Fish, the Eel, the Angel Fish, and the Sergeant Major. After working up an appetite while hiking and snorkeling, it's time to relax and partake of a light picnic lunch with a coastal panorama as your backdrop.

Thanks to the professional guides! I was a bit worried about kayaking because I had never done it before, but the instructions were great and I had such a good time!
